AN APPEAL IN CHALLENGING TIMES
The well-known lack of City funding led to the recommendation to the City Council that both visitor centers in North Cheyenne Cañon Park be closed and the jobs of the two City employees be eliminated.
The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon argued before City Council to reduce operations in the Cañon, but not eliminate them completely.
We were successful in these efforts and operations will continue in NCCP in 2009, but at a reduced level. The overall reduction for 2009, relative to 2008, is $50,000.
The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon have made the commitment to raise $20,000 in 2009 to restore more educational and recreational efforts in the Cañon. While it will not restore all of the $50,000, it will permit good operations in 2009.
We would like you to join in these efforts by donating funds, becoming a member of our Friends group, and volunteering in the Cañon.
